About This Episode

A Boeing 767 to Spain turned around mid-Atlantic because someone named their AirPods 'bomb.' Chip dreamed he packed a borrowed gun for an open mic. And a $169 hot dog topped with caviar somehow makes sense. Welcome to Episode 65 of the Sunburnt Podcast with Emmy Award-winning Producer Thomas O'Brien and Netflix Comedian Chip Chantry. **Thomas** (00:00:00:07 - 00:00:25:08): That's the thing I love about tropical locations is they can also be spooky locations. Someone's AirPod just turned around. A Boeing 767 had it for Spain. I had a friend years ago who won an island. It wasn't Swedish, it was down to the Caribbean. His last name was Epstein Chip Chantry, man of danger. The people who are making phone calls on flights are not the type of people to be quiet about making phone calls. This is a great episode show. It's a good one. We're really touching on a lot of key issues to the travel community. What a burnt one. This is the sunburn podcast where we talk about comedy and tropical travel. To my right, as always, you know, I'm from Netflix on the series tires and his amazing stand a special move closer. It's Chip Chantry. And over here to my left is Mr. Thomas O'Brien, Emmy Award winning producer, writer, and my pal. Grab a float, put on your earphones and drift away. Grab my tie. Because it's great to be in the tropics with your boys. So you just need some silver spray paint. That's all you do. You spray paint the front of their used lottery tickets and they look brand new so you can resell them. So I just take them down to my grandma's nursing home. Whoa. Chip, chip, chip, we've already started rolling, buddy. Oh! Hey, everybody. What a burnt ones. This is the sunburn podcast, where we talk about comedy and tropical travel. And, dude, we've got this one's going to burn up the charts, baby. Yeah, there is definitely fire damage happening to the inside of your earphones. IPods, EarPods, air buds of your buds, your talking, your dogs that play basketball. Not that chips. Worried about it because he has 47 crisp dollar bills. He got it as Nana's nursing home yes I do I ride this episode. We are getting into it. A flight to Spain turned around Mid-Atlantic because of a naughty pair of AirPods. No bueno. Uber is spilling its lost and found secrets. Let's have it. It's a little naughty, Chip. It is naughty. A Wisconsin man won a Swedish island. I'm excited about this one. The World Cup has a real Cool Runnings vibe this year. This is my favorite story. Feel the rhythm, feel the rhyme. Chip in the heat of the rhythm of the night. As El DeBarge once said, you gotta listen to DeBarge. The rhythm. I think those are the words in the in the heat of the rhythm. For $100,000. I could not tell you what those words are at any point in my life. Like, I have a feeling I know the vague rhythm of it. But you know the song, right? Oh, yeah, it's a good one. It's a great tune, and it just proves you don't always need to understand it. For art to be good, it's almost as good as the DeBarge. Who's Johnny? The song from Short Circuit about Johnny five, the robot that came alive. And that's the robot with eyelids. This. Yeah. It's just just to give you a little, a little love. That's how you make them better. Mies. Oh, either. Oh, also, Steve Guttenberg was also in that movie, and he also had eyelids. Did you know that Paul Stark and Steve Guttenberg had some kind of relationship? No. I think Paul Stark literally lived at his house or something like that for a period of time, and worked on a script with him. Wait, I think I might know this to shout out Paul Stark, but a shout out at NBC continued success. Continued success. British Airways is letting passengers take voice and video calls mid-flight, and Chip is already furious. I'm shaking about this one. I'm pretty. I'm pretty fired up about it, too. What are you doing? British airlines? No. No, thanks. Yeah, it's like a spot of tea and a big bowl of super annoying. We pop into the hypochondriac corner to find out about chips. Television virus. We have buffet facts. We have fish of the week. We crack open the good book. The Trouble in Paradise hotline is open. Everybody. You can call us and leave a voicemail at (310) 845-6038. And tell us about your most incredible, exciting, funny, harrowing vacation story. We want to hear about it. And now to get us kicked off, Chip, to get you all in the right vibe, we encourage you to join us. It's time for an old fashioned slather, buddy. **Chip** (00:04:19:14 - 00:04:32:18): Slather it up getting those rays. Hawaiian Tropic. The SPF that I love the most. It's just it's just the right amount of SPF. **Thomas** (00:04:32:19 - 00:04:47:12): Speaking of just the right amount, speaking of rays, speaking of Hawaiian Tropic bud, we may be announcing as early as next week our next In Paradise tour. Stop Bud. **Chip** (00:04:47:13 - 00:04:54:01): Tropical tour stop coming. Probably not near you, but maybe you can be near us. **Thomas** (00:04:54:02 - 00:05:18:03): Yeah, you got to come be near us if it's not near you. But yeah, dude, we don't like to announce things specifics. We don't like to count chickens before they're hatched. Working in television long enough. You know, you need a signed contract and for everything to be legally. Bueno. Before we talk about it in detail. But, dude, we are close, close, close. And they could not be more excited, man. Yep. I'm really fired up. **Chip** (00:05:21:22 - 00:05:26:10): Let's do it. Let's make it happen. Let's get those sand in our toes. **Thomas** (00:05:26:12 - 00:05:42:16): Yeah. And some comedy in your ears. This is the sunburnt podcast where we talk about comedy, tropical travel, and occasionally we blend those things together on location. So if you think those two things should go together. Stay tuned. Brant desk. **Chip** (00:05:42:16 - 00:05:49:02): Hi, this is Mr. Chantry in room 308. I'm going to need about a dozen towels sent up, as well as a nice pair of scissors. **Thomas** (00:05:49:03 - 00:05:52:23): Are you the reason we're getting reports that a man is walking around dressed like a ghost? **Chip** (00:05:53:00 - 00:05:56:21): Or maybe your hotel is home to. **Thomas** (00:05:56:23 - 00:05:58:14): Just wear pants next time. **Chip** (00:05:58:15 - 00:06:00:12): Sounds good. Chip. **Thomas** (00:06:02:06 - 00:06:04:10): Dude, that front desk. Pretty spooky. **Chip** (00:06:04:14 - 00:06:10:22): That's the thing I love about tropical locations is they can also be spooky locations. **Thomas** (00:06:10:22 - 00:06:22:08): I'm really scared to even look into it. I know there's some nice, nice law, there's some nice stories, there's probably something, but I just love being there so much that I don't want to spend any of that time spooked out. **Chip** (00:06:22:09 - 00:06:35:17): Oh, I, I I, I strongly disagree. Okay. I want to be on the beach, shaken to my boots. And first of all, why am I wearing boots on the beach in the first place? Yeah, that is an issue that's between me and my doctor. **Thomas** (00:06:35:18 - 00:06:44:11): You just kept saying I have a foot issue. Yes. You're the only. You're the only one on the beach dipping your steel toes in the sand. **Chip** (00:06:44:12 - 00:06:59:20): Yeah, those things do not float, I'll tell you that much. Oh, you got to do some extra kicking. But, yeah, I like to be spooked out anywhere. Just a little. A little spooky vibe. A little old school kind of shining kind of vibe, but, like, take shining off the mountain. Put it out on the beach. **Thomas** (00:06:59:21 - 00:07:04:17): There's a spooky movie out right now. Back rooms. Do you have any interest? Have you heard about this thing? **Chip** (00:07:04:18 - 00:07:11:14): Yeah, I've heard it's very different, very interesting. The I believe the guy who made it is like nine and a half years old. **Thomas** (00:07:11:14 - 00:07:14:18): Yeah. It's a it's a fourth grader from Wisconsin. **Chip** (00:07:14:19 - 00:07:18:16): Yeah. Good for him. And yeah, I heard it's it's jarring. **Thomas** (00:07:18:17 - 00:07:25:14): Yeah. I mean he said he knows about front rooms, right. But he was like the idea is what if there were other types of rooms. **Chip** (00:07:25:15 - 00:07:34:19): The side rooms, you know, I mean, there's, there's a lot of rooms available that he can I mean, I can see the room trilogy just, you know, happening bathrooms. **Thomas** (00:07:34:20 - 00:07:48:08): Yeah. I mean, I think that's part of it. That very young director. Writer. Yeah. Breaking all kinds of records at the box office. This is off the heels of obsession, which came out like a couple weeks ago, a horse live at the box office right now. **Chip** (00:07:48:11 - 00:08:06:08): Alive and well. And I'm here for it. That's I think that's what people want. I think. I think we're tired of the we. I'm generalizing. It's I think the there will always be a place for the big superhero comic book movies. Yeah. But I think we've seen enough of them for a while. It's I think people are ready for something a little. It's it's like it's like that first, that first opening riff of Smells Like Teen Spirit, they're like, you know what? We've had enough hair metal. Let's turn the page. **Thomas** (00:08:18:08 - 00:08:31:08): Let's turn the page boy haircut, which is something that kind of did right. Close adjacent chip, episode 65 of the Sunburnt podcast. Yeah, we're ripping a rock and we're getting into a segment called for the algo. **Chip** (00:08:31:09 - 00:08:38:02): For the algo for you, and also for those robots listening in on your computer devices. **Thomas** (00:08:38:02 - 00:09:02:13): We have got to tickle those robots ears so they'll get the information to you. Like we're playing the algorithms game, baby, and this time we're trying to win. But doing this story is mind boggling. Someone's AirPod just turned around a Boeing 767 headed for Spain, buddy. Did you hear about this in the wild? **Chip** (00:09:02:15 - 00:09:25:04): I mean, yes, and it it drove me nuts. I actually had so we were talking about this story. Yeah, I was reading about it. I literally had a nightmare. I don't know if we call it a nightmare, but a bad dream last night. Okay. About a very similar thing. I was going to the airport myself. I'm a very, I think I very straight and narrow. I like to follow the rules. I'm not a man of danger, necessarily. **Thomas** (00:09:30:23 - 00:09:32:05): Man of danger. **Chip** (00:09:32:08 - 00:09:34:12): Despite what I want the ladies to think. **Thomas** (00:09:34:13 - 00:09:36:12): I know despite that leather jacket. **Chip** (00:09:36:12 - 00:09:40:00): I had to fly to Austin, Texas by myself. **Thomas** (00:09:40:00 - 00:09:40:19): In your dream? **Chip** (00:09:41:00 - 00:09:41:14): In my dream? **Thomas** (00:09:41:14 - 00:09:43:22): Did you have to kill Tony when you got there? **Chip** (00:09:44:00 - 00:09:46:00): Well, are you ready for this? **Thomas** (00:09:46:01 - 00:09:46:06): Oh. **Chip** (00:09:46:06 - 00:09:47:05): No, I think I might have. **Thomas** (00:09:47:06 - 00:09:49:11): You went. You flew for an open mic chip. **Chip** (00:09:49:11 - 00:10:11:15): I literally put a pistol. A gun in my suitcase. Yeah, because I thought I might need it. Right. I don't own a gun. I literally borrowed somebody, borrowed somebody's gun, play the suitcase, and then, like, showed up. I was the only one in line. There was nobody else in line. I was like, oh my God, this is great, sweet young gal. And I was like, hey, I have to tell you. And she's like, hey, have you been drinking? And I was like, no. And she's like, you've been drinking. I was like, oh, yeah, actually I did that because, like, I never drink before flight. **Thomas** (00:10:19:14 - 00:10:24:05): But in the real world, in the real world. Yesterday you did drink. I know that for a fact. **Chip** (00:10:24:06 - 00:10:27:16): Did I did I had a beverage, had a little cocktail. **Thomas** (00:10:27:18 - 00:10:28:16): A road dog. **Chip** (00:10:28:17 - 00:10:47:22): I think I was feeling it, and she's like, I know you drinking. And I was like, oh, okay. And then I was like, oh, I have to tell you, I do have a weapon in my suitcase. And she's like, okay, we just have to get the police to come to, like they look at her or whatever. And we had to wait for the police to arrive to, like, go through it and okay it. Yeah. By that time, like, they just never showed up. And then my plane left and I was stuck and I never got to go to my flight. And I had this, this nightmare based on this story, which I think is even more harrowing. **Thomas** (00:11:02:21 - 00:11:17:11): Yeah, yeah, that is why I'll tell you one other thing real quick. I've been stopped at, the Kona airport. I've been detained at the Kona airport. Really? On suspicions of bringing a firearm. **Chip** (00:11:17:13 - 00:11:22:06): Why? Just just the look of your. That's just the cut of your jib. **Thomas** (00:11:22:07 - 00:11:40:16): Yeah, they looked at. They looked at it very. It might have even been this Hawaiian. And they were like, this guy's up to no good. Yeah. After we went to Oahu, I went to the Big Island to take care of some other business. And I was traveling with all our video equipment. Oh, so they thought that, like, the big Pelican case is full of stuff. Were something more problematic. And I was like, it's it's a video camera. **Chip** (00:11:45:12 - 00:11:59:12): Because that TSA, agent had seen the movie Die Hard before. Yeah, I would have done the same thing, Thomas. I would have seen your equipment thrown you to the floor, put you in cuffs, and questions you for hours on end. **Thomas** (00:11:59:13 - 00:12:03:14): They just had to take a look in it really quick. Well, I'm sure I'm sure it could have gone through something. **Chip** (00:12:03:15 - 00:12:05:08): They do it their way. I do it my way. Thomas. **Thomas** (00:12:05:09 - 00:12:34:10): Yeah, they were very nice about it. They were very chill about it. Very, very Hawaiian. No, nobody was making big accusations. They just wanted to check it out. Make sure everything was going to be safe. Sure. But yeah, I did. I did get pulled over. But back to this story, buddy. Yeah. HuffPost Weird News is reporting that a United Airlines flight bound for Spain was forced to turn around Mid-Atlantic after a passenger named their Bluetooth device bomb b o m. **Chip** (00:12:34:14 - 00:12:43:21): Be it okay now, I guess we don't know the answer to this. Was this previously the name? **Thomas** (00:12:43:22 - 00:12:47:20): Oh, did somebody change it? No, I didn't cover that at all in anything else. **Chip** (00:12:47:21 - 00:12:50:18): Like we don't know when they named it bomb, but it was just called bomb. **Thomas** (00:12:50:19 - 00:13:11:08): Dude. I went a little deep doing some research on this thing, and not all of it is good. You know, just if you do a search on something, especially when social media gets involved, you don't know what's true or true. But like, I think it's a teenager by some of the accounts, a lot of them do not name it, but I think it was like a younger person. There was 190 passengers and 12 crew members on this, this flight, dude, and this is the most frustrating part about it. They asked everybody just to turn off the Bluetooth. They asked the whole plane, turn off your Bluetooth devices. All but two devices were turned off, and the one of the two that stayed on was the one named bomb. **Chip** (00:13:37:13 - 00:13:46:03): I mean, it's it's ridiculous. Like, they could have just. That's such an easy fix. Yeah. For how many people did you say were on that flight? **Thomas** (00:13:46:04 - 00:13:49:14): 190, 190 souls. **Chip** (00:13:49:16 - 00:13:56:13): 200 people basically are flying from the US to Spain, most likely for an amazing vacation. **Thomas** (00:13:56:13 - 00:13:58:06): It's the time to go to Spain, baby. **Chip** (00:13:58:07 - 00:14:08:08): It's the perfect time to go to Spain. And you're there. You're in the air. You're three hours out. You're halfway there. You're living on a prayer. **Thomas** (00:14:08:08 - 00:14:09:10): It's quite the journey. **Chip** (00:14:09:10 - 00:14:13:11): So despite that. So I guess they can't figure out who's device it is. **Thomas** (00:14:13:12 - 00:14:31:19): Well, I don't even think they can really ask. I don't think they can tell everybody. Hey, there's the device name bomb. I think they're just like, hey, there's something going on up here in the pilot's area, and we need everybody to turn off their Bluetooth. Might be interfering with some instruments, whatever light cover story they have. Sure. Everybody turns off their trash. It's up for the bomb. **Chip** (00:14:33:17 - 00:14:41:08): That is a little brazen, a little crazy. Like, is it just a weird coincidence the person not realize? Or were they trying to be funny? **Thomas** (00:14:41:08 - 00:14:49:15): I don't think so. Man, I think it's just this could be an ad for AirPods. Dude, the noise canceling is so good. **Chip** (00:14:49:16 - 00:14:50:02): Oh. **Thomas** (00:14:50:07 - 00:14:53:06): That it will ruin your vacation. **Chip** (00:14:53:08 - 00:14:56:14): Could you imagine? I mean, I could see it nowadays. **Thomas** (00:14:56:14 - 00:15:17:05): Yeah. So this thing took off around 6 p.m. from New Work Liberty, and landed back at the same airport at 937. So they're up in the air for about 3.5 hours before they turned around, and then had to go through the whole rigamarole of getting off the plane. I think getting another crew back in there. **Chip** (00:15:17:06 - 00:15:18:10): Yeah, you're going to need another crew. **Thomas** (00:15:18:11 - 00:15:20:18): Yeah. They've got rules about crews. **Chip** (00:15:20:20 - 00:15:27:17): Just because one idiot elects a legend a legend. Yeah. **Thomas** (00:15:27:18 - 00:15:37:12): Yeah, I don't know. Like, I wouldn't think about it if I named if I named it bomb. Like, you know, bomb doesn't. Maybe that's like a a fun thing. Like my music's bomb. **Chip** (00:15:37:13 - 00:15:41:19): Yeah, I guess so. But then it's like. But then not to turn him off. **Thomas** (00:15:41:20 - 00:16:00:11): On the Bluetooth. Yeah, not turn it off. This this guy's living on the edge of de bag territory. Yeah, yeah, I do have a question. I was thinking about this. You specifically being a comedian when you hear something like this. Do you have a different relationship with the word bomb? What's the most upsetting part? **Chip** (00:16:00:12 - 00:16:04:03): Yeah, it just reminds me of the first half of my career. That's why it's so upsetting, I think. **Thomas** (00:16:04:04 - 00:16:13:00): Yeah, I can imagine. So, like. Yeah. You never. You never took. You never performed at 30,000ft. That might have turned a plane around in the early portion. **Chip** (00:16:13:01 - 00:16:22:19): I don't believe I have. No. Yeah, if I just. Hey, guys, what's up with airline food? Literally in front of you. And then they're just like, we're turning it around. Let's go. **Thomas** (00:16:22:20 - 00:16:33:10): Dude, do you have a specific memory early on of a joke you thought was going to absolutely crush that, that you felt embarrassed by in the moment on stage? **Chip** (00:16:33:11 - 00:16:47:14): Oh, many. I'm trying to think if I can think of an exact one, but yes. Or like, oh, I remember okay, I do remember that. Very low stakes. But at the time it was soul crushing. Yeah. At the time, my friend now friend John Cancel was there as well. **Thomas** (00:16:47:15 - 00:16:47:21): We're the. **Chip** (00:16:47:21 - 00:17:02:10): Puppets there. I don't believe there any puppets there at that time, which is I think I would have felt better about myself if there were. But I remember you don't say it was just an open mic. There was literally like six of us there, It was these guys, Steve and Pat, who were like just a little bit above me. They started a little bit before me, but I really looked up to them and John cancel and maybe like two other people. And I remember specifically where we were at this, and literally I was laughing at my own joke because I thought it was so funny. **Thomas** (00:17:19:00 - 00:17:20:01): That's that's tough. **Chip** (00:17:20:02 - 00:17:39:21): I remember it was like it was something about an inflatable church, like, you know, like like a bouncy house kind of thing, but like some congregation, whatever. They have this inflatable church that they go inside almost like a tent or whatever. And I made something. I actually speaking of bombs, I made a joke about like, well, then you're going to blow up the church. Like, that was the thing, you know, because the, the bombing kind of situation. And I remember I was like, it's so funny laughing myself. And I've almost barely able to get through the joke and they're just staring at me. **Thomas** (00:17:52:03 - 00:17:57:01): Oh, that is amazing. And most of your early work was religious. **Chip** (00:17:57:04 - 00:18:02:13): It was religious, indoor about inflatables, lot of inflatable material back then. **Thomas** (00:18:02:15 - 00:18:05:03): And you were sponsored by Lutheran Inflatables. **Chip** (00:18:05:06 - 00:18:09:05): Lutheran Inflatables LLC. **Thomas** (00:18:09:07 - 00:18:13:03): Not a lot of open makers are sponsored, but if you're going to be sponsored. **Chip** (00:18:13:04 - 00:18:17:05): I had to wear that blow up shirt that that blow up hoodie, man. **Thomas** (00:18:17:06 - 00:18:27:10): All right, man. Well, note to all the burnt ones out there, don't name your AirPods bomb for the love goodness. It might cause you some trouble. **Chip** (00:18:27:12 - 00:18:47:03): Okay, because that's the thing, too. When you're in an airplane. Like, I'm not nervous about flying. Yeah, I'm nervous about, like, missing my flight or the flight gets canceled or whatever. Right. Because I think I don't remember if it was with you guys, but like, there was a one of the legs when we went to Hawaii. Yeah. Was like there was some issue. And like, they the crew was like looking at the flight and the wing and all, and it was like. And I was like, this is not good. Like we were on the tarmac. Yeah. But we hadn't pulled out yet. And I was like, oh, we are not getting like, we're not getting off the ground on this plane. **Thomas** (00:19:01:05 - 00:19:08:23): Was it when you were on the flight with my father and I wasn't there? I think I remember hearing there was a little baby static on the way home, maybe. **Chip** (00:19:08:23 - 00:19:22:14): And I was like, we're not getting out of here. I was like, this is they're gonna they're not gonna be able to use this plane. And then they're like, all right, we fixed everything. And maybe it was like a 20 minute delay. Yeah, but you're like, what? And then when the when those wheels that pick up. **Thomas** (00:19:22:16 - 00:19:24:08): Yeah, it's. **Chip** (00:19:24:08 - 00:19:45:08): You just feel like. All right, we made it. Yeah. And it's like, all right. So now I can just relax the next few hours and just get to my destination. We. I went through all that rigamarole, TSA, of all that stuff. The plane's working well. And I was like, I'm just good. And then to be like an hour or two into your flight across the Atlantic and then like, guys were turning around, sorry, boat. And I wonder how much they were even told or like that were turning around. Like, what were they told when they had turned around? Because if it was a legitimate threat, they're like, hey, we think there's a bomb on on board. We're going to turn around. The guy's going to blow the place up, right? So it's like they might just be like, sorry, we're having some troubles. We got to turn around like, man, that's the worst. **Thomas** (00:20:05:21 - 00:20:10:16): And then as we learn from 30 Rock, they just tell us it'll be 15 minutes, right? **Chip** (00:20:10:16 - 00:20:13:04): And then you just keep. That's a Skylar baby. **Thomas** (00:20:13:09 - 00:20:39:05): Skylar. Exactly, exactly. This also plays in the same territory. Did you see that video of the jiu jitsu guy that, like, restrained that dude that was trying to open the airplane door? Yeah. I've never like you. Just like the close up on that guy holding this man down with just such confidence and no panic. I've never been. I've never been that confident in myself that I could do anything. **Chip** (00:20:39:06 - 00:20:46:16): Well, okay, I would say this. Let's say you're in that situation, Thomas. God forbid guys trying to open the door. You look down at your carry on bag. **Thomas** (00:20:46:17 - 00:20:47:08): Yeah. **Chip** (00:20:47:13 - 00:20:49:14): Your pickleball paddle is there. **Thomas** (00:20:49:15 - 00:20:50:17): Yeah. **Chip** (00:20:50:18 - 00:20:53:19): At hand. What do you do? **Thomas** (00:20:53:21 - 00:21:03:06): I think, I think based on my history of confrontation, I look the other direction. Okay. Gently fondle my pickleball paddle. **Chip** (00:21:03:09 - 00:21:10:05): Yes. It's like, hey, we might get sucked out the window, but you know what? I'm just gonna. I'm just going to retake this handle here. **Thomas** (00:21:10:05 - 00:21:28:06): I like to think I'd step up. I like to think I'd step up, but, like, I just wouldn't have the skills. Dude, there was something about, like, this is the most chaotic situation you can have in modern times without, like, a weapon or whatever kind of this guy is literally trying to down a plane, it seems like. Yeah. And the just the strong confidence of this man, just like constraining this other man who has lost his marbles and he's just looking around, he's like, yeah, this is okay, this is good. And then I saw an interview with him. He's like, yeah, train jujitsu for a long time, I guess he used to be a mixed an MMA fighter. Yeah. And just dude, all the confidence in the world. I want that confidence chip. **Chip** (00:21:51:14 - 00:21:52:09): So do I. **Thomas** (00:21:52:09 - 00:21:53:23): I don't want to work for it. **Chip** (00:21:54:00 - 00:21:55:18): No, but you just want to have it. **Thomas** (00:21:55:18 - 00:21:56:08): I want to. **Chip** (00:21:56:10 - 00:21:57:22): Save it. Same here baby. **Thomas** (00:21:57:23 - 00:22:04:07): Same love. A couple of skills. All right. Moving on. From airplanes to ride shares. Chip. **Chip** (00:22:04:12 - 00:22:08:18): Yep. Difference for transportation. Just as inconvenient sometimes. **Thomas** (00:22:08:19 - 00:22:35:00): Just. But but also just part of travel, baby. Yep. That goes hand in hand with getting around this globe. Uber released its 10th annual Lost and Found Index last week, detailing the most commonly forgot items left in rideshare vehicles, and over 1 million phones were reported left behind in Uber's last year. Chip, have you ever left a phone in an Uber? **Chip** (00:22:35:05 - 00:22:50:09): I've never lived as far as I know, other than my dignity. I have never left thing in an Uber. I'm somebody who is. I will tell you this, Thomas. I was walking home from the grocery yesterday. The grocers? Yeah, the old Acme grocery store. **Thomas** (00:22:50:09 - 00:22:51:07): Neighborhood grocers. **Chip** (00:22:51:07 - 00:23:05:18): I pulled my phone out of my pocket. I'm carrying my bags, pull my phone out of my pocket to look at a text, and it slipped out of my hand. Fell on the ground. I got a little crack just at the top corner of my screen. No, I think it's going to be fine. It's just at the top corner. It's. It's not going to bother anything. I don't think it's going to be bigger. That's the only time I've ever done that with a phone. I feel like I'm very responsible with my devices. Yeah. And yeah, never left a like, so much so that, like, I take an extra second to survey the scene, you know what I mean? Like, just to make sure that everything's there. **Thomas** (00:23:24:16 - 00:23:39:14): I think our best selves want to do something like that. I don't know that I've ever. I think I've left a wallet. I think I've left a wallet before. And I was traveling with somebody who left a laptop somehow. **Chip** (00:23:39:19 - 00:23:40:01): Oh. **Thomas** (00:23:40:02 - 00:24:08:19): That's enough. In that taxi cab. This was an Uber. It was a taxi cab. Even harder to track down, I think. But the sheer panic of getting out, especially if you're away from home of an Uber at your destination, and then being like my only means of figuring out where this Uber is, is still on the Uber. Yeah, it's just like and then you have to talk to potentially a stranger and ask, can I borrow your phone to help find my Uber? And they're like, how do you do that? And you're like, I have no clue, right? And they're like, okay, do you need to sign into Uber on my phone? And you're like, probably. But I don't know the password. No, I you. **Chip** (00:24:21:02 - 00:24:25:10): Look you look like you're scamming them to try to get information off their phone. **Thomas** (00:24:25:11 - 00:24:28:08): Yeah. And then you're embarrassed and you just run away. **Chip** (00:24:28:12 - 00:24:30:07): I think that's when I just start a new life. **Thomas** (00:24:30:08 - 00:24:31:19): Yeah. Now you live there? **Chip** (00:24:31:21 - 00:24:35:05): Yeah. Off. I'm going off the grid. Then I think that's what's going to happen. **Thomas** (00:24:35:05 - 00:24:43:10): But over a million phones were lost last year. New York City has been ranked America's most forgetful city for the 10th consecutive year. **Chip** (00:24:43:11 - 00:24:46:21): Man, they got other things on their mind. They're they're moving bright lights. **Thomas** (00:24:46:21 - 00:24:51:08): I think there is a volume issue here. Like, they probably have more rides than anybody else. **Chip** (00:24:51:09 - 00:24:55:14): Yeah. So maybe per capita, you know, Buffalo is going to be worse. Maybe let's say. **Thomas** (00:24:55:15 - 00:25:07:06): Yeah, maybe. But I do have a theory. Chip, I don't think this is about forgetfulness at all. I think this is about drunkenness. **Chip** (00:25:07:07 - 00:25:10:01): Oh, I could very easily see that. Yes. **Thomas** (00:25:10:01 - 00:25:20:12): Because I've never seen anybody drink like people did when I lived in Manhattan. Yeah. It's a it's a culture that doesn't drive. And they just pound them. They don't sleep, they don't drive, they pound them. **Chip** (00:25:20:16 - 00:25:24:21): Right. So you have to think about that in LA, don't you, Thomas? Because you're driving places a lot. **Thomas** (00:25:24:22 - 00:25:36:00): A lot of people don't. But like I do. Right. And when Uber came out, it was like the the greatest relief of all time. Of course, it was like, oh, I don't have to find parking and a disgusting neighborhood. **Chip** (00:25:36:00 - 00:25:37:13): And I have a designated driver. **Thomas** (00:25:37:13 - 00:25:51:16): Yeah. And I have a designated driver in my pocket. Yeah, it was nice but Los Angeles is still in the top five. Okay. So we're we're we're leaving some stuff. We're leaving some phones. We're leaving some wallets. We're leaving some watches. We're leaving some keys. **Chip** (00:25:51:16 - 00:25:52:05): It's happening. **Thomas** (00:25:52:05 - 00:26:09:05): But the, the thing that makes me think this is an alcohol issue and not just a forgetful issue, is a writer seemed to lose their belongings most frequently on Saint Patrick's Day, Halloween and New Year's Eve. **Chip** (00:26:09:06 - 00:26:12:08): I mean, that's 100% the source. **Thomas** (00:26:12:09 - 00:26:21:03): Yeah, it's the source. And when you cross-reference that with New York City being number 110 years in a row, I think this is a a booze fueled cell phone drop. **Chip** (00:26:21:04 - 00:26:28:19): It's 100% what it is. Absolutely, absolutely. Yeah. There's no way because it's not happening on Easter. You know what. **Thomas** (00:26:28:19 - 00:26:30:03): I mean? No no no no no no no. **Chip** (00:26:30:05 - 00:26:35:22): Oh, hey, I lost my little candied eggs. Nope. It's Halloween, Saint Patty's day. **Thomas** (00:26:35:23 - 00:26:44:15): It might happen on Fat Tuesday. Potentially. It could happen on Easter, though. If you're rolling home from an inflatable church. **Chip** (00:26:44:17 - 00:26:54:20): Just blowing in the wind. I my roommate in college, he used to talk about how his grandfather every year would give up drinking for lent. **Thomas** (00:26:54:21 - 00:26:55:12): Yeah. **Chip** (00:26:55:13 - 00:27:20:06): And he was and I he was an Irish Catholic man. Yeah. Who knew how to put them back? But he abstained every lent and every Easter Sunday he would just break into the sun and just get mean, like funny and mean and just, like, yell at everybody in the family, but, like, just make fun of them. And he would just be wasted every Easter Sunday. **Thomas** (00:27:20:07 - 00:27:22:03): Oh, it's got a lot of time to make up for it. **Chip** (00:27:22:04 - 00:27:23:12): Yeah. Yes he does. **Thomas** (00:27:23:13 - 00:27:27:14): What do you think he was pounding back then do you think? Because he's doing. **Chip** (00:27:27:16 - 00:27:29:14): I was thinking whiskey. I'm thinking whiskey. That's my guess. **Thomas** (00:27:29:15 - 00:27:33:08): Whiskey. Yeah. That's a that's a classic Irish grandpa drink. **Chip** (00:27:33:10 - 00:27:35:08): Yes. Yeah, buddy. **Thomas** (00:27:35:09 - 00:27:37:21): Very exciting. All right, next story, Chip. **Chip** (00:27:37:22 - 00:27:38:20): Here we go. **Thomas** (00:27:38:22 - 00:28:08:23): A guy named Islander just won an actual island, and he's never left Wisconsin before. I think I might change my last name to lottery. Conde Nast Traveler is reporting that Eric Homer, a 42 year old from Madison, Wisconsin, has been named the American winner of Visit Sweden's Your Swedish Island Initiative, a global tourism campaign that handed out custodianship of remote Swedish islands to international travelers. He won an island ship. **Chip** (00:28:10:13 - 00:28:13:11): I mean, who would not want an island? That just sounds like the greatest thing in the world. **Thomas** (00:28:13:11 - 00:28:15:06): It sounds unbelievable. **Chip** (00:28:15:06 - 00:28:17:12): You have your vacation set for the rest of your life, then? **Thomas** (00:28:17:13 - 00:28:19:07): Well, you only get it for a year. **Chip** (00:28:19:10 - 00:28:20:06): That's for. **Thomas** (00:28:20:06 - 00:28:38:11): A year. That's what this. You technically, you get custodian ship, okay, of a Swedish island. Alright, so the contest drew more than 2200 video entries, and Sweden selected exactly five custodians total. This has very Willy Wonka vibes. **Chip** (00:28:38:12 - 00:28:39:02): Yeah. **Thomas** (00:28:39:04 - 00:29:01:07): There's only a certain amount of tickets out there, but a lot of chocolate bars were bought. Let me tell you about the island. They won. It's called Scott and Baden and it's described as nearly impossible to reach. That's like the big headline about this island. They promised it would be remote, but this one specifically is nearly impossible to reach. And the entire prize package is just one travel voucher worth $2,125. So I think that's enough to get round trip. **Chip** (00:29:14:12 - 00:29:17:13): No to from Wisconsin to Sweden, I doubt it. **Thomas** (00:29:17:14 - 00:29:44:03): Not not to this remote island in Sweden for sure. No. So it's it's maybe not the best deal. It's also probably some frozen Swedish island. But Homer heard about the contest on the radio while driving and entered, mostly because his last name, Homer, means island. He thought he might have a little luck. They had, like the Swedish name that means island. **Chip** (00:29:44:04 - 00:29:46:09): That means island. I mean, how can you not be picked? **Thomas** (00:29:46:09 - 00:29:49:14): It makes me think this might not have been random, I guess. **Chip** (00:29:49:14 - 00:29:51:23): Video well, videos. They're choosing people. **Thomas** (00:29:52:04 - 00:30:00:14): Yeah, they're choosing people. So, like, they just heard it and they were just like, oh, this guy's names Island tough. Tough to pass up Eric Homer. **Chip** (00:30:00:15 - 00:30:12:07): Well, because and I guess because they do they do this sometimes to where they pick the best people. Like I had a friend years ago who won an island and it wasn't Swedish. That was down to the Caribbean. His last name was Epstein. **Thomas** (00:30:12:09 - 00:30:13:11): Oh yeah. **Chip** (00:30:13:16 - 00:30:21:02): I don't know what that translates to, but I mean, he won a big island. Apparently. I've never gotten I haven't gotten down there yet, but, **Thomas** (00:30:21:04 - 00:30:22:21): Apparently heard from him in a while. **Chip** (00:30:22:23 - 00:30:25:17): Yeah, he is. I maybe he just ran with a voucher. I don't know. **Thomas** (00:30:25:17 - 00:30:35:15): I think there's probably something nice about a Swedish island remote. Interesting. You have space to yourself. But I like my island's warm chip. **Chip** (00:30:35:16 - 00:30:36:20): Yeah, that is true. **Thomas** (00:30:36:21 - 00:30:40:02): I just I just kind of do. If I'm going to be out there. **Chip** (00:30:40:04 - 00:30:43:11): Steel drum sound different in the cold, I. **Thomas** (00:30:43:12 - 00:31:14:13): Yeah, they sound like clunk, clunk, clunk. Yeah. The frozen temperatures really change it. All right man this I mean we're getting back into some good island vibes with this story. The smallest nation at the World Cup just pulled up in a windowless school bus. And they are from an island. Chip. Right. So the World Cup, where you've got Brazilians that are coming in on a private 747 or Qatar reportedly has a gilded locker room. **Chip** (00:31:14:14 - 00:31:17:12): Right. These are these are some of the richest people in the world. **Thomas** (00:31:17:13 - 00:31:45:08): Well, it's like some of the richest. I mean, I don't know, it's Brazil. Organization's richest country. Yeah. There's just it's just like they put so much emphasis on this sport that they pool a tremendous amount of resources behind these teams. And dude, Sports Illustrated is reporting that Curacao, a Caribbean island with just 158,000 people, has become the smallest nation in FIFA World Cup history to qualify for the tournament. And they rolled up in this school bus dude with no windows. They were just like hanging out of it. **Chip** (00:31:54:06 - 00:31:55:05): They were hanging out just. **Thomas** (00:31:55:05 - 00:31:56:02): Like great time. **Chip** (00:31:56:02 - 00:31:57:03): Waving everybody. **Thomas** (00:31:57:05 - 00:32:02:09): Blasting tunes. Somebody took a video of it. It's going very viral. **Chip** (00:32:02:10 - 00:32:16:16): It looks like the bus that you would take on, like an excursion in the Dominican Republic, you know what I mean? Like, we're going to go and you're going to go see this thing and we're going to go have like a little lunch or whatever, and you're going to go zip, zip lining and you're like, let's get in this fun bus. And that's, that's how they came into town. **Thomas** (00:32:18:21 - 00:32:40:13): Do it. And this just has Cool Runnings written all over it, man. Yeah. These are underdogs who are very talented athletically, but don't have a lot of the advantages that other people have, like their training sessions back home. And carousel are literally conducted barefoot on the beach. Dude, they are playing beach soccer. And then they go out there and they play the real games. Of course it's on grass and stuff. They had to qualify. They had to get in. They had to go through all these different, like, you know, sub tournaments or whatever it is to get into the game. But do they just practice on the beach without any shoes and. **Chip** (00:32:56:07 - 00:32:56:20): Stuff right there? **Thomas** (00:32:56:21 - 00:33:03:05): Yeah, exactly. And the other element that caught my mind was their manager is Dick advocate. **Chip** (00:33:03:06 - 00:33:04:07): Is that his name? **Thomas** (00:33:04:08 - 00:33:05:19): Yeah. **Chip** (00:33:05:21 - 00:33:06:17): Dick advocate. **Thomas** (00:33:06:18 - 00:33:32:05): Dick advocate. He's a 78 year old who now holds the record for the oldest manager and World Cup history. So like they've gotten they've got no supplies, they've got no training grounds, they've got a nearly octogenarian manager and they are out there rocking it. And I think they're they're kicking off next week on the 14th against Germany. Okay. So they're going up against global powerhouses. Big is the small nation. And I just like I can't even tell you how psyched Albie if Curacao gets out there and starts getting a couple of W's but. **Chip** (00:33:44:12 - 00:33:51:01): Oh absolutely I yeah I already looked up the jerseys. The jerseys look amazing. It is sort of like a fun Caribbean vibe. **Thomas** (00:33:51:02 - 00:33:53:11): Is it like a fish pattern? I haven't seen the jerseys. **Chip** (00:33:53:12 - 00:34:02:18): It's like just like it's like pretty basic, but it's just kind of like light, kind of like tarnish. And then a little, little light, light blue. It's just like a really cool, like. **Thomas** (00:34:02:23 - 00:34:03:10): A. **Chip** (00:34:03:12 - 00:34:03:23): Vibe. **Thomas** (00:34:04:00 - 00:34:05:20): A nod to the sand and the sea. **Chip** (00:34:05:22 - 00:34:25:02): Exactly. And then, I will tell you this. I don't know if I told you I'm going to the World Cup on the 14th. Going to a game. Really? Yeah. In Philly I can walk down to the stadium. My buddy got tickets. My buddy Mike shout out to him. I'm so excited. It's Ivory Coast, and I want to say maybe he's playing Ecuador. Maybe I feel like that. It's I know it's good. I know it's. **Thomas** (00:34:27:04 - 00:34:28:02): Gonna be awesome. **Chip** (00:34:28:03 - 00:34:34:06): Yeah, I'm I'm pretty excited, but, like, if I could see Curacao play. Oh. Bonus points. **Thomas** (00:34:34:07 - 00:34:49:13): All right, dude, last story here. We're getting back. We're getting back to the not so friendly skies ship. Yeah, British Airways just made video and voice calls available at 30,000ft. I I'm so upset about this show. **Chip** (00:34:49:15 - 00:35:06:23): Society is already in collapse, but this is just going to speed it up so much faster. Talking and doing video calls on an airplane in those types quarters, there's going to be I'm going to be the guy opening that door that the jujitsu guy is going to be choking out. **Thomas** (00:35:07:00 - 00:35:16:11): Yeah, the jujitsu guy's going to be distracted. You know, there's going to be so many more bomb AirPods floating around making these video calls. **Chip** (00:35:16:13 - 00:35:16:19): Yeah. **Thomas** (00:35:16:19 - 00:35:22:13): They're this is like Planet Fitness being like, hey, bring your own tunes, bring a boombox. **Chip** (00:35:22:14 - 00:35:23:22): Just let it, let it. **Thomas** (00:35:23:22 - 00:35:28:22): Right. Just play it. Just make sure you play it louder than whatever we're already pumping in here. **Chip** (00:35:28:23 - 00:35:29:19): Exactly. **Thomas** (00:35:29:19 - 00:35:37:14): And louder than you know. So you can block out the other people who we've encouraged to bring their own boom boxes and will really just make this place miserable for everybody. **Chip** (00:35:37:15 - 00:36:00:20): For everybody will lose. Yeah. It's just there's going to be mutiny. There's going to be mutiny on on flights, because the people who are making phone calls on flights are not the type of people to be quiet about making phone calls, like, it's just the worst people are going going to be doing it. It's not just going to be a polite little guy being like, excuse me, I just got a call and check in with my dog walker real quick, you know what I mean? Like, it's going to be like, I'm gonna have a seven hour loud conversation with my sister for no reason. **Thomas** (00:36:06:19 - 00:36:14:01): It's going to be somebody drunk on their way back from a bachelorette party. Yep. Screaming at their boyfriend or confessing. **Chip** (00:36:14:01 - 00:36:26:07): Well, yeah. Oh, which could be fun. I will say there's got there's an upside. Just crying and confessing your sins coming back from Vegas that that could be its own thing. Like, okay, here's what we do. **Thomas** (00:36:26:08 - 00:36:27:18): Okay? **Chip** (00:36:27:20 - 00:36:49:15): The last thing we need is to get rid of more seats and trying to shove seats together more, but like, yeah, like take like the size of a restroom. Like a bathroom in a in a plane. Yeah. And make it like a confessional. Like, like on the real world. But but it's basically a phone booth where you take your phone into that soundproof little area and you make your call. But here's the big but. **Thomas** (00:36:52:07 - 00:36:52:23): Yeah. **Chip** (00:36:53:00 - 00:36:55:23): It is broadcast. There is a camera in there. **Thomas** (00:36:56:00 - 00:36:56:08): Yeah. **Chip** (00:36:56:09 - 00:37:01:08): And microphones. And one of the options for your viewing. **Thomas** (00:37:01:10 - 00:37:02:13): I like this. **Chip** (00:37:02:14 - 00:37:10:18): Is you get to watch what's happening in that in that room. Like instead of watching 30 another 30 Rock episode. **Thomas** (00:37:10:19 - 00:37:11:14): Yeah. **Chip** (00:37:11:16 - 00:37:16:19): Be like, I want to see what this crying girl is doing on her way home from Las Vegas. **Thomas** (00:37:16:19 - 00:37:34:07): I mean, that sounds it's great on two fronts. I think that sounds entertaining. I think that sounds like a good use. But I also do think it it sounds mildly like a cover up for a legal case you're actually involved in, where you did place cameras in airline restrooms. **Chip** (00:37:34:08 - 00:37:39:07): Well, okay, because there's no law up at 30,000ft. Thomas, I thought I was allowed to. **Thomas** (00:37:39:09 - 00:37:44:14): Yeah, you said they said you can't smoke in there. They didn't say anything else about anything I did in there. **Chip** (00:37:44:16 - 00:38:10:05): No, they did not know. They did not. And in my defense, the only reason I put those cameras in the restroom was that during that trip, I had to self tape and audition for a Fast and Furious nine, and I had to I forgot that I, I didn't, I didn't take them down. I was so literally just in character. I was so, you know, method. Yeah. That I forgot that the that the, the the cameras were there. **Thomas** (00:38:18:07 - 00:38:30:02): I mean, just all 190 soles on that. 767 heard you screaming. It's all about family. I know from from the back commode. **Chip** (00:38:30:04 - 00:38:33:07): And I think they I think they all agreed. I'll say that. **Thomas** (00:38:33:07 - 00:39:06:16): They absolutely must have. Yeah. So, dude, this is all made possible by Mr. Elon Musk's Starlink Wi-Fi, which supports speeds up to 500 megabits. It's now available on planes. A lot of airlines have this technology already in use, but only British airlines. And there's one other one. I believe Emirates have decided to allow people to use the voice and audio calling on board. Everybody else is actively blocking it. I only went down this rabbit hole because I saw something on Instagram about Delta allowing the video calls, and I was like, I fly Delta. Delta is probably about as good as you get. **Chip** (00:39:20:17 - 00:39:22:09): They love to fly and it shows. Sure. **Thomas** (00:39:22:11 - 00:39:45:13): One of my favorite for sure. Like if I have a choice between them or most of the airlines, I go with them. But that that turns out not to be the case. And to quite the opposite. They even ask their customers if this is something they'd want and got. I believe the term was aggressively not something their customer base wanted available. **Chip** (00:39:45:15 - 00:39:48:22): That sounds like a resounding answer. A reason to love Delta. **Thomas** (00:39:49:00 - 00:40:09:10): Yeah, yeah. So I, I don't think I'm being grumpy at all like this. This just sounds like a nightmare. There is the devil's advocate of like, there's people talking on airplanes. There's people talking like, you know, if you go with your friends, you go with a family member. There's going to be people talking. But there's something so much more infuriating about somebody talking on a phone. **Chip** (00:40:09:11 - 00:40:13:15): Yeah. With somebody that's not there. There's there's no reason for that. You can talk to them when you land. **Thomas** (00:40:13:16 - 00:40:20:14): I feel the same way. But I do go back to my devil's advocate of being like, is it any different than me talking to my wife? **Chip** (00:40:20:16 - 00:40:22:19): It is. It is because you were it is there. **Thomas** (00:40:22:20 - 00:40:23:09): It feels. **Chip** (00:40:23:09 - 00:40:46:07): Both aware. You're both aware what's happening and you're both in there. You're supposed to be talking and but then there's also that just shrill, loud phone voice that, like, is different than like a person that's there. And it just, it also just takes the person, even when you're to a certain extent when you're talking with your wife, let's say, yeah, you're both there, you're both aware of your surroundings. You know what I mean? So like if, hey, if if they start singing Happy Birthday at the next table or something weird is going on. You're both attuned to it. You're like, oh, let's you flow with what's going on there. This person on the phone doesn't realize that. And then I feel like they're taken out of it too. So it's there. There, but they're not there. That's true. Two thumbs down, Thomas. Two thumbs down. **Thomas** (00:41:08:03 - 00:41:12:03): That was for the algo, everybody. I think that was the this is a great episode. **Chip** (00:41:12:07 - 00:41:13:01): That's a good one. **Thomas** (00:41:13:03 - 00:41:16:15): We're really touching on a lot of key issues to the travel community. **Chip** (00:41:16:16 - 00:41:17:00): Yeah we. **Thomas** (00:41:17:00 - 00:41:22:07): Are all right. Next we're going to hypochondriac Corner. **Chip** (00:41:22:09 - 00:41:25:00): The corner. Do you have anything this week Thomas. **Thomas** (00:41:25:01 - 00:41:28:00): Oh, dude, I just I back in the gym, buddy. **Chip** (00:41:28:02 - 00:41:28:20): How are you feeling? **Thomas** (00:41:28:20 - 00:41:32:19): I'm feeling great. I was so sore. I was so sore. **Chip** (00:41:33:00 - 00:41:33:23): But it's a good story. **Thomas** (00:41:34:00 - 00:41:54:15): Friday. It was a good saw. I know the difference between being sore and being injured. It took the weekend to recover, but I got. I got a little, got a little cough. Yeah. And I have no other symptoms. I don't have a fever. I don't feel sick any other way except I got a little gunk in the chest. **Chip** (00:41:54:16 - 00:41:55:17): Could it be allergies? **Thomas** (00:41:55:17 - 00:42:16:23): It could be allergies. It could be anything. I really don't know what it is. But the one of the places I went to is like, I don't know, like, I've seen movies where people cough, like, Moulin Rouge! Yep. Sedin coughs and blood comes out and that means she's dying. She's so I'm just like, I don't I don't know that I've had this before where it's just like, just a cough. There's no stuffy nose. Yeah, there's no anything. I'm just, like, coughing a lot and I can feel it getting more intense. I'm coughing more. I can feel more stuff in my lungs. I still don't feel sick at all. That's good. And I'm still, you know, running. I'm still riding the bike. I'm still doing all these things not feeling. But yeah, there's just something in the back of my mind. It's like, this is unfamiliar. This is weird. This doesn't feel like being sick. Maybe I've got one of those Sedin coughs coming up. Just kind of blood all over the place, and then I die. **Chip** (00:42:45:16 - 00:42:52:07): I understand where you're coming from, but I, I, I don't think you're gonna have this a virus. I think you're going to be okay. **Thomas** (00:42:52:08 - 00:42:57:21): Okay, if you say so. But but when will I start being beautiful and being able to sing? **Chip** (00:42:57:23 - 00:43:02:08): You have never been to the Moulin Rouge. Therefore you're not that important. **Thomas** (00:43:02:09 - 00:43:05:00): All right. You got anything, buddy? Anything for the corner. **Chip** (00:43:05:02 - 00:43:09:00): Just the fact that I was watching one of my favorite TV. I was watching Modern Family the other day. **Thomas** (00:43:09:01 - 00:43:09:21): Okay, yeah. **Chip** (00:43:09:22 - 00:43:25:21): We just sit sometimes, like dinner and you just throw it on, or, like, even in the morning, have a little cereal. Just see what, see what the Duffy's are up to. You know what I mean? It just means what? There's an episode where two of the main characters, the mom and the daughter, are sick in bed and they're doing the sick voice and they're blowing their noses. I've watched that episode once in my life. **Thomas** (00:43:28:16 - 00:43:29:00): Yeah. **Chip** (00:43:29:01 - 00:43:55:19): And I can't watch it. I, I hate when a character on a TV show or in a movie or somebody on a podcast is sick. Yeah. Even though I'm, I know I can't catch it. It just grosses me out so much. I can't watch that episode. And it's funny, luckily, and thank you to the makers of Modern Family, that same episode of The Mother and Daughter that Are sick that I skip. We also used to have to skip. This is pretty funny because there is a very funny storyline where Phil is trying to replace the smoke detectors, but there's one beep. You know how the smoke detector beeps? Like, yeah, when the battery's low, he can't figure out where it is. **Thomas** (00:44:13:22 - 00:44:14:21): Oh dude. **Chip** (00:44:14:22 - 00:44:27:03): Right. And it's just like, frustrating. Our old dog Stanley was so afraid of the smoke detector that that episode. And I think the the episode is literally called chirp because, you know, like, you know, like that. **Thomas** (00:44:27:04 - 00:44:28:01): Yeah. Yeah. **Chip** (00:44:28:07 - 00:44:45:23): He, he would hear it on the TV and think it was a smoke detector. And he got so scared that he would run and hide. So we would we would skip that episode and I skipped it for the same reason. Aside side note, one time I guess the smoke detector did go off like it was the actual smoke detector. The battery was going dead, so it was beeping a little bit. My wife got home from work and so that's going off. But just like every minute, every 30s or whatever, and then she realizes she can't find the dog, she's like missing in our apartment. And she thought he must have gotten out somehow. He was holed up in the closet like under some clothes because he was so afraid. And it's like, that is the worst thing to do when the sector goes off is to go and hide. **Thomas** (00:45:13:23 - 00:45:16:19): That's an Art Kelly rock opera right there. **Chip** (00:45:16:21 - 00:45:20:14): There it is, there it is. But that is a that's my hypochondriac corner. **Thomas** (00:45:23:22 - 00:45:36:10): Yeah, that's your hypochondria quarter. And also the reason why you have yet to grant a make a wish you refuse to do. Meet with anybody who is mildly ill I. **Chip** (00:45:36:12 - 00:45:38:09): Who do I look like John Cena? No. **Thomas** (00:45:38:09 - 00:45:42:06): No, you really don't. Yeah. Very little resemblance. **Chip** (00:45:42:08 - 00:45:43:07): Yes. **Thomas** (00:45:43:09 - 00:45:53:22): That's it for. That's it for the corner. Dude. We're moving on to talk about the man. One of our heroes. A sunburned icon as far as we're concerned. Yeah. It's time for Buffett facts. **Chip** (00:45:53:22 - 00:45:55:07): Chip Buffett facts. **Thomas** (00:45:55:07 - 00:45:59:18): What do you have about the man, the myth, the legend, Jimmy Buffett? Today? **Chip** (00:45:59:19 - 00:46:08:15): Jimmy Buffett could almost do it all. The only cool thing that he couldn't do was to go see a Jimmy Buffett concert. **Thomas** (00:46:08:16 - 00:46:15:19): It's so true, dude. I mean, it's just like the good Lord himself. Can he make a rock so heavy he can't lift it? **Chip** (00:46:15:20 - 00:46:17:16): I mean, he's Pagliacci in this one. **Thomas** (00:46:17:16 - 00:46:22:16): It's one of those things. And yeah, he just couldn't he couldn't see himself live. **Chip** (00:46:22:18 - 00:46:23:14): How about you, Thomas? **Thomas** (00:46:23:15 - 00:46:46:05): All right. Yeah. Just, this was kind of inspired. Looked into it based off of, you know, it's the NBA playoffs, right? Or the finals. It is the Stanley Cup finals right now. And I just want to see how he felt about the whole situation. So this is the fact that I found out Jimmy Buffett liked the Stanley Cup more than the NBA championship. He thought the Stanley Cup was the perfect size for a margarita. **Chip** (00:46:52:02 - 00:46:53:14): Little salt on the rim. **Thomas** (00:46:53:15 - 00:47:02:13): A little salt on the rim of the Stanley Cup, buddy. Yeah, that's a big old cup where the NBA trophy famously is just a basketball kind of on a podium. **Chip** (00:47:02:16 - 00:47:05:01): Yeah, you can't put a cocktail in there. **Thomas** (00:47:05:02 - 00:47:27:12): You shouldn't. Nope. You shouldn't. That wouldn't be good behavior. I don't care about it. Yeah, but it's not good. All right, that's it for a buffet facts. Buffet facts. And that's. I'm feeling some splish and I'm feeling some splashing. The waters are rising. The tide is up. It's time for sunbird podcast fish of the week. **Chip** (00:47:27:12 - 00:47:32:12): And we have a grand one this time. Thomas. **Thomas** (00:47:32:13 - 00:47:33:18): I'm so excited. **Chip** (00:47:33:19 - 00:47:39:18): I could have told you so much information about our fish of the week this week, but I had to focus. **Thomas** (00:47:39:19 - 00:47:41:07): You had to get laser focused. **Chip** (00:47:41:07 - 00:47:42:22): I had to get laser focused because you. **Thomas** (00:47:42:22 - 00:47:44:17): Didn't want to flounder around. **Chip** (00:47:44:18 - 00:48:08:09): I did not want to flounder on my fish of the week entry. Okay, this is amazing. So I'm really going to focus on one little issue. Our fish of the week is Winston the Flounder, who now flounder. Yeah, the name is really sort of an umbrella for a bunch of different type of fish that do this same type of thing. So there's a variety of different if you want to call them flounders, but there's a bunch of variety fish, sort of a blanket term. But here is what Winston does. I've eaten flounder before. I've seen them floundering around. **Thomas** (00:48:21:08 - 00:48:22:13): Yeah. **Chip** (00:48:22:15 - 00:48:25:19): I never knew this about flounders like Winston. Okay. **Thomas** (00:48:25:20 - 00:48:29:10): You gotta hit me with it. I don't know what's going on, Winston. What's your secret? **Chip** (00:48:29:11 - 00:48:58:02): Flounders like Winston are born just like most other fish, With an eye on either side of their head. I mean, you know that, right? Just the going down a little. A little Finding Nemo kind of situation, just, you know. Yeah. They said then as it develops, as Winston developed, his one eye migrated across his skull so that both eyes were on the same side of the body. What this is what flounders do. The eyeball literally moves from one side to the other. **Thomas** (00:49:07:13 - 00:49:09:15): So they're only looking one direction. **Chip** (00:49:09:16 - 00:49:25:13): This is the stuff of horror movies like the Finding Nemo massacre right here. Like, this is just crazy. So what they do. So now the fish has two eyes on one side. So what they do then? They just flop down. **Thomas** (00:49:25:14 - 00:49:26:00): Yeah. **Chip** (00:49:26:01 - 00:49:50:09): And they swim on their side for the rest of their life. With both eyes popping up, these little bug eyes popping up from the one side. So instead of swimming, you know, vertically, like most fish do. Yeah, they swim along the floor of the ocean and they kind of flutter along on the floor of the ocean, watching everything up with their little bug eyes. **Thomas** (00:49:50:12 - 00:49:54:23): So for flounders of a certain age, everything's looking up. **Chip** (00:49:55:02 - 00:50:03:19): Everything's looking I mean, everything, it's it's crazy. Okay, so now Winston is literally a mutant. **Thomas** (00:50:03:19 - 00:50:06:04): He's a trauma, a trauma monster. **Chip** (00:50:06:05 - 00:50:20:14): Yes, exactly. They stay up like this, the eye moves, and then they flop on down and just stay on the bottom of the ocean, basically, for the rest of their lives. But now, let's calm down for a minute. We're going to get chill, okay? **Thomas** (00:50:20:15 - 00:50:21:22): Okay, okay. **Chip** (00:50:22:03 - 00:50:25:13): Let's take take the temperature down a little bit because I know it got a little crazy. **Thomas** (00:50:25:15 - 00:50:26:08): Yeah. **Chip** (00:50:26:12 - 00:50:34:03): Just like a true burnt one. Yep. Okay. Winston spends most of his time lying on the ocean floor, like I said. **Thomas** (00:50:34:03 - 00:50:34:18): Yeah. **Chip** (00:50:34:20 - 00:50:36:23): Just chilling in the sand. **Thomas** (00:50:37:01 - 00:50:37:15): Yeah. **Chip** (00:50:37:16 - 00:50:39:04): I mean, that does sound pretty cool, right? **Thomas** (00:50:39:05 - 00:50:39:20): Yeah, yeah. **Chip** (00:50:39:21 - 00:50:47:16): Okay. Now he even likes to bury himself in the sand, like. Like he's a five year old at Coney Island. **Thomas** (00:50:47:17 - 00:50:49:01): Oh, what a silly little ghost. **Chip** (00:50:49:06 - 00:50:54:09): He's a silly because he buries himself in the sand. What? What's the only thing sticking out, do you think, Thomas? **Thomas** (00:50:54:14 - 00:50:56:07): Maybe the bug eyes. **Chip** (00:50:56:09 - 00:51:02:16): Those bug eyes are just sticking out, looking around. Watch for prey. Watching for predators. **Thomas** (00:51:02:16 - 00:51:06:23): Like a weirdo peeking out through a paintings eyeballs. **Chip** (00:51:07:05 - 00:51:29:14): That's my favorite thing in the world, I think. I don't know why more people don't have paintings with the whole cutout, so you can watch your guests when they're having their pre-dinner cocktails. Now he's just buried in the sand like a burnt one. But don't let these vibes fool you, Thomas, okay? Can't because he's looking around for dinner. And when he sees something tasty, boom. Like a like a little tiny fish or a worm or crustacean, he pops out of the sand. Strikes faster, Thomas, than you can say. No, your honor, I did not try to tickle that policeman. And he pounces and he gets his dinner. **Thomas** (00:51:50:16 - 00:52:01:11): Yeah. So, like Winstons to a lot of people can be called darts. That's a different name for cigarettes. Yes, but this Winston likes to dart right up out of the sand. **Chip** (00:52:01:12 - 00:52:19:22): Maybe dart right out of there. Winston. Cool. There. Now, I can tell you more about Winston, but that is just what I want people to remember. We're just focusing on that. The eye flips over, they flip down and they stay on the bottom, bury themselves in the sand like a burnt one. And it's. But then they go in for the kill. It's it's kind of like if Jeffrey Dahmer lived in Acapulco, like he's just kind of chill and then boom, something bad happens. But that Thomas is Winston. Our fish of the week. **Thomas** (00:52:34:09 - 00:52:37:03): Winston. Congratulations, buddy. **Chip** (00:52:37:06 - 00:52:38:12): Winston the flounder. **Thomas** (00:52:38:12 - 00:52:44:21): Congratulations, Winston. I hope it didn't hurt when your eyes moved, but we can't take our eyes off of you. You're beautiful, buddy. **Chip** (00:52:44:22 - 00:52:46:06): You are. You are. **Thomas** (00:52:46:08 - 00:52:49:11): All right, Chip. Thanks for that, dude. What a fish of the week. **Chip** (00:52:49:16 - 00:52:51:05): Fish of the week, baby. **Thomas** (00:52:51:07 - 00:52:54:01): All right, now it's time to get into the good book. **Chip** (00:52:54:02 - 00:53:05:16): Open it up. Crack open that Guinness Book of World Records. The fastest, the tallest, the longest, the smartest, the most amazing feats. We celebrate each and every week. **Thomas** (00:53:05:20 - 00:53:12:05): Each and every week. And this week, my feet is measured in degrees. Chip. **Chip** (00:53:12:05 - 00:53:13:05): I'm ready for this. **Thomas** (00:53:13:06 - 00:53:16:10): Do you like beautiful things that are consistent? **Chip** (00:53:16:14 - 00:53:18:14): I mean, look around me, yes I do. **Thomas** (00:53:18:15 - 00:53:48:07): Well, I found the record for the most equitable temperature over a long period chip. And what I mean by that is a place where the most consistent temperature is month over month. So regardless of the season, month over month, there's the lease variance and temperature from month to month, day to day, over a long period of time. Basically, what temperature is the most consistent year round over long periods of time? **Chip** (00:53:48:08 - 00:53:54:21): That's that was one of my favorite things about Hawaii, by the way. I know was that it's always just sort of 80 degrees. **Thomas** (00:53:54:23 - 00:54:17:05): Yep. Oh, yeah. Absolutely. Yeah. So here is my question. Over a long period of time and I'm talking years measuring average monthly temperature month to month. What do you think in degrees is the smallest variance ever recorded. **Chip** (00:54:17:07 - 00:54:20:00): Like ten degrees. Like a ten degree variance. **Thomas** (00:54:20:04 - 00:54:20:20): Okay. **Chip** (00:54:21:00 - 00:54:22:09): It's my guess. **Thomas** (00:54:22:10 - 00:54:33:15): It is less than one degree. What? Nine degrees Fahrenheit of the Kwajalein Atoll and the Marshall Islands. **Chip** (00:54:33:16 - 00:54:34:08): Okay. **Thomas** (00:54:34:12 - 00:54:48:12): The best news about this is it's tropical. It is a tropical climate that is the same day after day, year after year. The average temperature is 83°F. **Chip** (00:54:48:14 - 00:54:49:10): That's incredible. **Thomas** (00:54:49:11 - 00:55:09:12): That's the average temperature throughout, like the day, throughout the month, throughout the year. But the average high is 87 degrees. The average daily low is 79 degrees. And any day throughout the month is going to be within a degree of either one of those things over the course of years. **Chip** (00:55:09:14 - 00:55:10:12): That's wild. **Thomas** (00:55:10:13 - 00:55:17:20): It is so perfect. It's so pristine. It's like Groundhog's Day. It's Sept, it's perfect. **Chip** (00:55:17:20 - 00:55:19:19): Why aren't we there right now, Thomas? **Thomas** (00:55:19:20 - 00:55:24:11): Well, there's a couple of reasons for that. A lot of military. **Chip** (00:55:24:12 - 00:55:25:14): Yeah. The Marshall Islands. **Thomas** (00:55:25:14 - 00:55:57:21): Yeah. To the point where most of the inhabitants, the people that lived on this island, had to be moved to a smaller island that could have maybe more variability in temperature. So, yeah, there's there's not some, there's some not great parts of it. Right. But but just the way that it's set up in the remote ring of coral and reef and the central Pacific island or the central Pacific Ocean, it just acts as a giant thermal buffer like the the environment around it just keeps it the same year after year. It also in accordance with its, you know, Scripture with its scripture. Yep. It's perfect every day. **Chip** (00:56:04:19 - 00:56:05:16): That's incredible. **Thomas** (00:56:05:16 - 00:56:07:09): It's keeping it consistent, buddy. **Chip** (00:56:07:14 - 00:56:08:02): Yeah it is. **Thomas** (00:56:08:03 - 00:56:11:04): And for that we say, congratulations. **Chip** (00:56:11:05 - 00:56:12:20): Huzzah! **Thomas** (00:56:12:22 - 00:56:14:15): All right. What do you got today, buddy? **Chip** (00:56:14:16 - 00:56:20:21): That's a great one. That is. I would love, man, that I would not miss the seasons. Thomas. I'll say that much. **Thomas** (00:56:20:22 - 00:56:25:23): The Kwajalein Atoll and the Marshall Islands. Kwajalein. Kwajalein atoll. **Chip** (00:56:26:04 - 00:56:30:15): Okay, for my record, Thomas, couple questions. Do you like hot dogs? **Thomas** (00:56:30:15 - 00:56:32:01): Yeah, I love hot dogs. **Chip** (00:56:32:04 - 00:56:34:23): Do you enjoy paying way too much money for something? **Thomas** (00:56:35:04 - 00:56:36:07): If it's cool. **Chip** (00:56:36:08 - 00:56:45:07): Well, then you're in luck, because my record this week is the most expensive hot dog commercially available. **Thomas** (00:56:45:08 - 00:56:46:14): Dude, I'm. Into it. Tell me about this. Is it a foot long? Can you tell me if it's a foot long. **Chip** (00:56:51:05 - 00:57:00:13): I can, I can, and I will tell you it is a foot long hot dog. You want to guess the price of the most expensive foot long hot dog? **Thomas** (00:57:00:15 - 00:57:04:01): Costco gives them out for a buck 50 with a soda. **Chip** (00:57:04:03 - 00:57:05:20): Are they foot longs? **Thomas** (00:57:05:22 - 00:57:20:22): I think so. Okay, I think it's a long dog, so I'm gonna. What I like to do is 20 x a reasonable price. Okay. So I'm going to go with $30 for this diggity dog. **Chip** (00:57:21:02 - 00:57:31:16): Love it. Thomas. Great guess. The most expensive hot dog commercially available is 169 American dollars. Whoa. **Thomas** (00:57:31:18 - 00:57:36:08): Dude, how do they justify. How does this how does this come to be? Oh. **Chip** (00:57:36:14 - 00:57:41:11): Thomas, I'll tell you. By the way, do you want to guess what restaurant this comes from? **Thomas** (00:57:41:12 - 00:57:42:18): It comes from a restaurant. **Chip** (00:57:42:18 - 00:57:47:23): I'm going to stop you right there. It doesn't come from a restaurant. It came from a food truck. **Thomas** (00:57:48:01 - 00:57:58:06): Really? Okay, so this is a mobile eatery selling dogs for 169. Did we go from the Marshall Islands to the Coney Island's? **Chip** (00:57:58:08 - 00:58:08:03): I mean, pretty close. Okay. This is not your Dollar Dog night. We're talking about Thomas. Yeah. Okay. This is the Tokyo dog food truck. **Thomas** (00:58:08:04 - 00:58:11:15): Okay? Okay. This. Is this starting to feel right? **Chip** (00:58:11:16 - 00:58:20:16): Do you want to guess where the Tokyo dog food truck was located? Obviously. Tokyo dog. **Thomas** (00:58:20:18 - 00:58:22:01): Is it in Tokyo? **Chip** (00:58:22:02 - 00:58:24:02): It's in Seattle, Washington. Thomas. **Thomas** (00:58:24:02 - 00:58:25:11): Oh, perfect. Yes. **Chip** (00:58:25:15 - 00:58:39:16): In Seattle, Washington, on February 23rd, 2014, the first person bought a $169 Junie Bon. **Thomas** (00:58:39:20 - 00:58:40:09): A Junie. Bon. **Chip** (00:58:41:11 - 00:58:50:10): Which is now for for $169 American. Now, what does this get you? **Thomas** (00:58:50:11 - 00:58:52:20): Yes. Yeah. Tell me, tell me the value proposition. **Chip** (00:58:52:20 - 00:59:02:08): I think you're going to see how the value does sort of start to match up. It is a 12 inch hot dog. Okay. Smoked cheese bratwurst. **Thomas** (00:59:02:12 - 00:59:03:13): Okay. **Chip** (00:59:03:15 - 00:59:09:22): Topped with butter, teriyaki, grilled onion, maitake mushrooms. **Thomas** (00:59:10:01 - 00:59:10:17): Okay. **Chip** (00:59:10:23 - 00:59:12:14): Wagyu beef. **Thomas** (00:59:12:16 - 00:59:14:16): Wait. It's topped with beef. **Chip** (00:59:14:18 - 00:59:18:07): I guess so. Or there's beef in there. Yeah okay. So Wagyu beef. **Thomas** (00:59:18:08 - 00:59:24:21): Yeah. That's expensive beef for gras fog. RA that's where the the goose are for. **Chip** (00:59:25:01 - 00:59:32:23): Like the goose are just fed. It's an awful thing. It's an awful thing but very expensive. It's like their liver or whatever. So gras shaved black truffles. **Thomas** (00:59:33:01 - 00:59:33:18): Okay. **Chip** (00:59:33:20 - 00:59:34:23): Caviar. **Thomas** (00:59:35:04 - 00:59:36:02): Okay. **Chip** (00:59:36:04 - 00:59:39:16): And Japanese mayo on a brioche bun. **Thomas** (00:59:39:16 - 00:59:42:15): So this is fancy. This is all fancy. **Chip** (00:59:42:16 - 00:59:53:20): This is very, very fancy stuff. And for all that, for the low, low price of $169, you could get relish, but that's an extra $0.75. I don't know if you want to pay for that. **Thomas** (00:59:53:21 - 01:00:07:01): You got to draw a line at some point. Was the pig that this brat was made out of? Potentially the same pig that found the truffles? **Chip** (01:00:07:01 - 01:00:14:02): It was actually Miss Piggy, the famous Muppet. That's where a lot of the price comes from. Yeah. Sad, sad day for Miss Piggy. **Thomas** (01:00:14:03 - 01:00:31:13): Yes it is, dude, that is wild. That's a that's a real expensive. When you first mentioned it was in Seattle, I was like, okay, they have a huge drug problem there and a lot of affluence. Maybe the street truck is driving around. Kind of like saying you want a Japanese hot dog. And people are like, is that drugs? All, you know, code word. Now they're putting 170 bones in somebody's hand and they're just getting back a foot long. Yeah, but it sounds like they really put the time in. They really built a luxury product. **Chip** (01:00:43:21 - 01:00:44:10): Yes. **Thomas** (01:00:44:11 - 01:01:01:23): I used to live up in Seattle and they've got this little hamburger stand called Dick's. Okay. And you just walk right up there and it's kind of like an in and out. But like I remember it being only on foot. You kind of just like walk up to a window. You order a bunch of burgers. They were super cheap, super delicious. Hard to imagine this competing with. **Chip** (01:01:04:19 - 01:01:06:09): Dick's the opposite, right? **Thomas** (01:01:06:10 - 01:01:11:01): This hot dog truck can't compete with dicks. Hot dogs can never compete with Dick's. **Chip** (01:01:11:01 - 01:01:20:05): Well, I will say I will tell you this. So this happened in February 2014. Tokyo Dog closed in 2017. **Thomas** (01:01:20:06 - 01:01:21:15): Oh. **Chip** (01:01:21:17 - 01:01:27:07): Most likely. Most likely, yeah, because they were trying to sell hot dogs for 170 bucks. **Thomas** (01:01:27:10 - 01:01:30:15): That's that is a proposition. **Chip** (01:01:30:16 - 01:01:57:00): Now, obviously this was not their only offering. This was a special menu item. You know, they could buy a more reasonable dog there. But yeah I do want to say on that February 3rd 23rd, 2014, Alan Chang of California was the first of six people to purchase the $169 dog, which totals out to $1,014 for six dogs and all of that money. The owners of the the food truck sent to the Red cross. So all the money they made went to the Red cross. So it was for a good it was it was for a good cause. **Thomas** (01:02:06:15 - 01:02:08:11): Okay, okay. Okay. **Chip** (01:02:08:13 - 01:02:13:18): Now, Thomas. Yeah, we keep talking about how we want to set our own record. **Thomas** (01:02:13:20 - 01:02:15:01): Yeah, yeah. **Chip** (01:02:15:07 - 01:02:19:11): I have an idea for a $200 hot dog. **Thomas** (01:02:19:12 - 01:02:20:19): Okay, okay. **Chip** (01:02:20:19 - 01:02:21:08): Are you ready? **Thomas** (01:02:21:09 - 01:02:22:11): Yeah. **Chip** (01:02:22:13 - 01:02:23:23): See if you would pay 200 bucks. **Thomas** (01:02:23:23 - 01:02:25:09): For this. Yeah. Okay. **Chip** (01:02:25:11 - 01:02:26:17): Kobe beef. **Thomas** (01:02:26:19 - 01:02:27:18): Yep. **Chip** (01:02:27:20 - 01:02:49:08): The Kobe beef hot dog in a croissant, Dijon mustard with a lobster tail, topped with an iPhone 15 and wrapped in a paper of the guaranteed winners of this Saturday at the track from my uncle Lou's friend who fixes horse races. **Thomas** (01:02:49:09 - 01:02:51:09): Dude, now that sounds like a dog. **Chip** (01:02:51:10 - 01:02:52:20): Is that worth $200 to you? **Thomas** (01:02:52:21 - 01:03:01:12): Yeah, I think the on a 15 and iPhone 15. I think the trade in value alone is going to be somewhere around $200. **Chip** (01:03:01:13 - 01:03:03:16): Plus you get the winning horse races for that week. **Thomas** (01:03:03:17 - 01:03:13:00): Yeah. Plus you get a couple of guaranteed winners. You can go down really clean up at the track. Dude, this is this is a great deal and it's a record we could certainly beat. **Chip** (01:03:13:01 - 01:03:13:18): I think we could. **Thomas** (01:03:13:19 - 01:03:16:17): Do you think part of the record was they had to sell a certain amount of them? **Chip** (01:03:16:17 - 01:03:19:16): So it does say most expensive hot dog. **Thomas** (01:03:19:16 - 01:03:24:09): Commercially available. So anybody can buy it at a store. **Chip** (01:03:24:13 - 01:03:27:03): Well I mean I say at their location I guess. Yeah. **Thomas** (01:03:27:03 - 01:03:30:06): Well okay. Okay. Commercially available doesn't mean anybody bought it. **Chip** (01:03:30:07 - 01:03:31:11): No, it's just available. **Thomas** (01:03:31:11 - 01:03:33:22): I think we could set this record right now. **Chip** (01:03:33:22 - 01:03:42:00): So we know that six people bought it. So I think you I think there probably does have to be a purchase. I think there has to be at least one purchase. That's that's my guess. **Thomas** (01:03:42:01 - 01:03:46:17): Because if there doesn't, we we can come out with the $2 Million Dog. **Chip** (01:03:46:18 - 01:03:48:03): Yeah we can. **Thomas** (01:03:48:05 - 01:03:51:05): $2 million dog. Nobody needs to buy it. **Chip** (01:03:51:07 - 01:03:52:06): If you want it. **Thomas** (01:03:52:07 - 01:04:05:00): Yeah, it's available for commercial purchase and it can be as crappy as we want it to be. Dude, I think we may have found our loophole. The most expensive blank commercially available. **Chip** (01:04:05:00 - 01:04:13:13): And I have a little experience with it now. Not financially, but I have paid dearly for eating some chili dogs in the past. 01:04:13:15 – 01:04:14:22 UNRESOLVED – Oh yeah baby! So congratulations to Tokyo Dog and the most expensive hot dog commercially available. **Thomas** (01:04:21:03 - 01:04:44:09): So congratulations Tokyo Dog RIP. You were too good for this world. Yep.
